What’s The Controversy With Sunny Deol’s Juhu Bungalow?

Bank of Baroda had initially issued a 30-day notice to auction Bollywood actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol‘s Mumbai bungalow due to a ₹55.99 crore loan default.

The bank, citing “technical reasons,” later withdrew the notice. Deol had mortgaged the property, which houses his office and a studio, to the bank. A fresh notice was published under the SARFAESI Act for the recovery of the defaulted amount.

The controversy sparked questions as Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the sudden withdrawal, speculating about the reasons behind it.

The property, named Sunny Villa, was scheduled for e-auction with a reserve price of ₹51.43 crore and an earnest money deposit of ₹5.14 crore. The notice mentioned Deol’s real name, Ajay Singh Deol, and detailed loan information.

Sunny Deol, renowned for his latest blockbuster film ‘Gadar 2,’ which has amassed a remarkable box office collection of over ₹400 crore within a week.

The Deol family’s Juhu bungalow, housing a recording studio, office, theater, and post-production suites, was mortgaged for the loan.

Deol’s brother, Bobby Deol (Vijay Singh Deol), father Dharmendra Deol, and Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd were listed as guarantors.

Deol’s representative stated that they were actively working to resolve the issue and urged against further speculation.

The Congress party took advantage of the sudden turn of events and attempted to start a political controversy as Sunny Deol is also a BJP MP.

However, Sunny Deol’s team has been trying to resolve the issue for several months by approaching the Bank of Baroda.

The bank has also accepted a ‘technical glitch’, consequently they decided to withdraw the auctioning of Sunny Villa in legal terms.
