What Is The Defence Bill, Presented By Rajnath Singh In Lok Sabha?

The Defense Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, is introducing a bill called the ‘Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023’ in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
This bill is aimed at improving how the armed forces work together and maintain discipline.

Currently, the armed forces in India, which include the Army, Air Force, and Navy, follow different rules and regulations for their personnel.
This new bill wants to change that by giving certain leaders in the military the power to manage and discipline all soldiers, regardless of which branch they belong to.
This means that commanders from one branch can take action against soldiers from another branch if needed.

This bill is essential because it will help the government make things more efficient. Right now, if there’s a problem, it takes a lot of time and money to sort it out.
But if this bill becomes law, issues can be resolved faster and at a lower cost. Also, it will make it easier for the government to create joint military groups, where soldiers from different branches work together under one command.

For example, if there’s a situation where soldiers from the Army, Air Force, and Navy need to work together, this bill would give a designated leader the authority to manage them effectively. It’s like having a team captain who can guide all the players, even if they are from different teams.

This new way of working together is also part of a bigger plan called ‘theatralisation’. This means the military wants to organize itself into groups that can respond better to different types of challenges.
Each group, called a theater command, will include soldiers from all the branches, and they will work together like a coordinated team.

So, this bill is like creating new rules that will help the different branches of the military work as a team, be more efficient, and respond to challenges in a better way. In short, it’s about making the Indian armed forces stronger and more effective.
