What Is ‘Red Diary’ Controversy Between BJP And Congress?

The ‘Red Diary’ controversy is a political clash between Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from the Indian National Congress in the state of Rajasthan.

The controversy revolves around a diary claimed to contain details of alleged irregular financial transactions by the Rajasthan cabinet, led by Chief Minister Gehlot.

The Red Diary was brought into the spotlight by a sacked Congress MLA named Rajendra Singh Gudha. He made sensational claims about its contents, stating that it holds information about transactions made to independent and certain BJP MLAs during a political crisis triggered by Sachin Pilot’s rebellion and the subsequent Rajya Sabha elections in 2020.

However, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot refuted the existence of any such ‘Red Diary,’ calling it an imagination and a fictional creation.

He retaliated by mentioning the soaring prices of essential commodities like tomatoes and cylinders, which have affected the kitchen budgets of many Indians.

Gehlot accused the BJP-led central government of being disconnected from the real problems faced by the people.

At a public rally in Sikar (Rajasthan), Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of running a ‘loot ki dukan’ (shop of loot) in a ‘jhooth ka bazaar’ (market of lies) in Rajasthan.

He referred to the ‘Red Diary’ as the “latest product of Congress’s loot shop,” insinuating that it contains evidence of corruption and financial wrongdoing by the ruling Congress government.

The political feud over the ‘Red Diary’ has intensified ahead of the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which are due later this year.

Congress is questioning the BJP’s priorities and alleging that they lack substantial issues to address. While the BJP is using this controversy to attack the Congress government about their scams & illegal transactions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at the Opposition’s new coalition, claiming that they changed their alliance name from UPA (United Progressive Alliance) to INDIA to hide their past wrongdoings.

PM Modi alleged that the name change was an attempt to conceal how they had schemed against the poor in the past.

He accused the Congress and its allies of changing names like fraudulent companies, and suggested that the intention behind the name change was to remove the stain of capitulating in front of terrorism.

According to PM Modi, the name change does not reflect patriotism but rather an intention to deceive and harm the country like East India Company, Indian Mujahidin, and other anti-national organizations.
