Western Railway Launches Yatri App To Track Trains Live Locations

Passengers can monitor the real-time status of trains on the Western Railway’s suburban network, which runs between Churchgate and Dahanu.

Wednesday saw the debut of a mobile app by the Western Railway (WR) that will enable passengers to view the real-time status of trains on its suburban network, which runs between Churchgate station in south Mumbai and Dahanu in the neighboring Palghar district.

The “Yatri” app, according to the zonal railway, includes a number of additional functions. According to a news release from Western Railway’s principal public relations officer, Ashok Kumar Misra, general manager of the company, the app was officially launched in front of dignitaries and railway officials at Churchgate station concourse.

All of the suburban trains operated by the Western Railway have GPS tracking systems, allowing the app to show their current locations.

Commuters will be able to access a train’s live location on a map and watch it move with this app, according to Thakur, which was developed in partnership with a private company.

“Commuters can see the live location in only three easy steps. In order to determine how close or distant they are from the train and make travel plans, commuters can use the map to discover the closest stations, enter the source station, and monitor the train of their choosing.

According to Thakur, commuters would receive accurate information on train announcements, live updates, the most recent timetable, maps of the main railway stations, and their amenities.

Additionally, the app offers details about Mumbai Metro services and buses. It also features an area where users may express feedback.

Travelers can use the app to find nearby tourist attractions and places to visit near stations, and they will have quick access to vital railway and medical emergency contact numbers.

The Western Railway claimed that the application is also divyangjan-friendly.
