West Bengal Might Never See Peaceful Polls: Violence in Bengal over election frenzy is again leading to deaths of political party workers. Police has been implicated to shoot workers point blank and the social media is rampantly talking about.
The BJP has taken a strong stand this time against such shooting that is happening over misunderstanding(s) for years together. BJP is attacking Trinamool Congress opening over the alleged attacks that seem to be politically motivated. The PM Narendra Modi has made an open to dissuade anyone to get into a bloody violent race for votes. BJP for years, has been making extra effort to find its foothold into West Bengal.
In July, the BJP party released a booklet with 107 names of members that it claims have died in political violence in the state over the past five years. Instance of violence have been rampant over the last decade. Cases remain unresolved. Political murder statistics have been the highest in West Bengal. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data released in 2019, the state tops the country in political murder. Of the 18 recorded around the country in 2018, 12 were from Bengal.
Investigations have identified maximum cases from the North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Birbhum, and Murshidabad districts in south Bengal, and Coochbehar in north Bengal.
Strangely, the feud has gone to a point that many workers from the Trinamool Congress party have shifted to the BJP Party out of disgruntle and fear of repercussions from the other side.
