The 37th National Games in Goa has become a big event, not just because of the sports but also because of the thousands of young volunteers who are helping out. These volunteers, who come from many places in Goa, are working together with one main aim: to make everyone at the event happy and ensure it’s a success.
Goa, famous for its beaches, is hosting the National Games for the first time. This is a big deal because it’s a chance for many new athletes to show their talent.
The volunteers, some as young as 18, are excited to be part of this historic event. They want to show visitors more about Goa, not just as a tourist place but as a great host for such a big sports event.
Sunil, a volunteer from Margao, is making everyone feel welcome with his friendly smile at Colva Beach, where Beach Football is happening. He was chosen by his college after Goa University asked for volunteers in October.
Out of 250 students in his college, only 100 got the chance to volunteer. Sunil had experience volunteering at a music concert and loved sports, which helped him get selected.
Another volunteer, Firdouse Mujawar, is working at Goa Engineering College, where Archery is happening. He’s thrilled to be part of such a big event, saying it’s a great chance to improve his social skills and meet important people and famous athletes.
Volunteer Managers (VMs) like Rishav Sharma at the Colva Beach have big job. They need to make sure everything is going smoothly and that all volunteers know what to do. It’s a lot of work but also very rewarding for them.
Some volunteers, like Claude Beranza from St. Xavier’s College, are doing this as a paid internship. Claude says this experience will look good on his CV. His job involves coordinating with different people at the event, looking after the media lounge, and other tasks.
