Vivek Ramaswamy Wins US Republican Debate, Raises $450,000 Donations

Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy made a strong impression at the first Republican debate for the 2024 United States Presidential Elections. He gained attention for his bold statements and controversial views.

A post-debate poll showed that 28% of respondents believed Vivek Ramaswamy performed the best, followed by Ron DeSantis with 27%, Mike Pence with 13% and Nikki Haley with 7%.

Ramaswamy claimed that all the other presidential candidates on stage were “bought and paid for” by donors, setting himself apart from his competitors.

He also declared that the climate change agenda is a hoax, despite recent natural disasters like wildfires and flooding. Ramaswamy’s comments drew criticism from his Republican opponents.

In a dig at former President Barack Obama, Ramaswamy positioned himself as an outsider and compared his campaign to Obama’s.

He also attacked former Vice President Mike Pence, questioning his “It’s morning in America” speech and suggesting that the country is in a dark moment of cultural civil war.

Ramaswamy’s views on gender and social issues align with those of former President Donald Trump. He rejects the existence of more than two genders, opposes abortion rights for women.

He believes that gender dysphoria should be treated as a mental illness. These views have drawn criticism from the LGBTQ+ community and advocates for women’s rights.

Despite facing brutal and personal attacks from his opponents, Ramaswamy used the attention to his advantage, emphasizing his relative youth and lack of governing experience.

In his closing statements, he reiterated his controversial beliefs, including the existence of God, the importance of fossil fuels for human prosperity, and the nuclear family as the greatest form of US governance.
