Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit Turns Obstacles Into Opportunities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in an event in Ahmedabad’s Science City on Wednesday (September 27) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. 

During this event, the Chief Minister of the state, Bhupendra Patel, welcomed PM Modi. He reminisced about the 20-year journey of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and accused the then central government of not cooperating.

PM Modi stated that today, the world is witnessing the success of Vibrant Gujarat, but the summit was organized in an atmosphere where the previous central government showed apathy towards Gujarat’s development.

He said, “…Yet, investors came, and it was not because of encouragement from the government but because of good governance, impartial administration, even distribution of development, and a transparent government.”

PM Modi accused the previous central government of viewing Gujarat’s progress through a political lens. He added that central ministers used to tell him they would definitely participate in the event but later changed their minds. They never cooperated and instead created obstacles.

PM Modi mentioned that 20 years ago, they sowed a small seed, and today it has grown into a giant and thriving Vibrant tree. They weren’t just rebuilding Gujarat but thinking beyond that. 

Vibrant Gujarat became their primary means to boost Gujarat’s self-confidence and engage with the world on an equal footing.

It’s a sad fact that at one point in India, there was a central government that tried to prevent (threatened) foreign investors from coming to the country, simply because investors wanted to invest in a state where the ruling party of the central government was not in power. 

They were more interested in their party’s politics than in the progress of the nation. Perhaps for these reasons, India has not yet achieved the accomplishments of other developed countries.

However the time has changed! Today the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has become a way to showcase the limitless possibilities in various sectors present in India. 

It became a significant platform to utilize India’s talent within the country. It became a medium to display India’s diversity, grandeur, and cultural heritage to the world.
