Uttar Pradesh is going to write another golden chapter in its history, through the newly built ‘Varanasi Cricket Stadium’ and 16 ‘Atal Residential Schools.’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay the foundation stone shortly, for an International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony will include cricket players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar.
PM Modi will arrive in Varanasi by air and perform the foundation stone laying ceremony at around 1:30 pm. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who will also attend the ceremony. He called it a historic moment and a golden chapter for Varanasi.
The stadium project involves a significant budget. The state government spent ₹121 crore to acquire the land, while the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will invest ₹330 crore in its construction.
Thus the total cost is estimated at ₹451 crore. The stadium is built to have a seating capacity for a large audience of 30,000 people.
Let me remind you that India already has 52 operational cricket stadiums, the highest number in any country. Among these, 24 are international cricket stadiums, while the rest host domestic cricket matches. England comes 2nd after India, having only 23 cricket stadiums.
It is true that Cricket is very popular, and sometimes it is an overhyped sport in India. But we can’t deny the fact that international cricket matches boost our country’s revenue and tourism too.
Apart from the cricket stadiums, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also announced the inauguration of 16 ‘Atal Residential Schools.’
