Uber expands India business, to hire over 250 engineers for tech & product teams

On Wednesday, Uber announced that it is expanding its operations in India for engineering and product work. For this, the company is opening recruitment of at least 250 engineers in India. The company said in a recent statement that the current hiring round is aimed to strengthen the company’s rider and driver growth, delivery, eats digital payments, risk & compliance, marketplace, customer obsession, infrastructure, ad tech, data, safety, and finance technology teams. 

The hiring is set to take place for Uber’s Bengaluru and Hyderabad-based teams. The roles would be split between the tech centers in these two cities. With this Uber will have 1000 employees in India by year-end.  

Uber underlined that the hiring is in line with the company’s plans of making mobility and delivery accessible and becoming the pioneer of transportation in more than 10,000 cities across the world. Senior Director – Engineering, Manikandan Thangarathnam, said, “Our teams in Hyderabad and Bengaluru work on important global mandates, and pioneer various industry-first innovations.” 

“In order to serve more people across the globe, were expanding our teams and are looking for bright engineering minds so we can collectively solve mobility and delivery challenges across all our global markets”, he added.
