India has been working consistently with the UAE to develop stronger bilateral trade and economic relations. The more important reason for his making a trip is to also consolidate roadmap to move ahead with peace and democratic reconciliation in Afghanistan.
Sending off a tweet informing about the meeting, Mr. Jaishankar said, “Another productive interaction with FM @ABZayed on our bilateral cooperation. Took forward our ongoing discussions on this subject, starting in February. The strong focus on post-COVID economic recovery will remain a priority for us.”
Both nations are clear that they would like to work ahead in a way that benefits not only the existing leadership in a large way, but also enhance the growth in the field of commercial, economic, cultural and other fields.

The pandemic was indeed a burning topic between both the nations. Further, both the nations also deliberated the latest Covid-19 developments, the two countries’ efforts to contain its repercussions, and the global efforts to provide vaccines to all countries.
Mr. Jaishankar said that this meeting was in continuation of discussions going on since February 2021. The UAE foreign minister visited New Delhi on February 26 and held talks with Jaishankar.
Jaishankar earlier had already paid a two-day visit to the UAE from November 25 to 26 last year in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Interestingly, Jaishankar’s visit to Abu Dhabi coincided with the trip of his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi, amid efforts by the Gulf emirate to facilitate backchannel talks to restart dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad.
