UAE Evacuates 210 Gaza Patients in Latest Humanitarian Mission

The U.A.E and the WHO successfully evacuated 210 Palestinians from Gaza. There are a number of those who were critically injured and comprise 86 critically wounded patients and 124 family members. The evacuation took place through Ramon Airport in Israel and the Kerem Shalom crossing. This is the second mission of this kind for the country, and it is coordinated by the United Arab Emirates, which demonstrates that the country has continued the pace toward ensuring medical attention to the victims of war.

The southern Gaza field hospital has received 50,489 cases since it commenced on December 2nd, 2023. The second vessel was a floating hospital at Al-Arish Port, which started its operations in February 2024 and treated 6,405 patients; their testimonies also contributed to the total scope of healthcare provision aid from the Emirates in the region.

The measure forms part of the directive issued by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who called for treating 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals. To date, the country has evacuated 2,127 patients and their companions and delivered over 43,000 tonnes of urgent aid to the Palestinian people.

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi outlined the UAE’s commitment to the advancement of the Palestinian cause during the humanitarian crisis. “This new initiative reflects the strong levels of cooperation between the UAE and the World Health Organization and exemplifies the UAE’s steadfast and enduring commitment to support the brotherly Palestinians amidst the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip,” His Excellency said.

The UAE continuously enriches its humanitarian response in various channels. Medical evacuations, field hospitals, and direct aid are all channels of humanitarian response. This broad approach depicts how committed the Emirates is to the temporary needs in dealing with the medical situation as well as the kind of longer-term humanitarian support that may be required by the Palestinian people.
