Imagine opening your Twitter and seeing nothing – no tweets, no updates, just blank space. That’s exactly what happened today. Twitter, or as it’s now known, “X” was a bit of a stir as users across the globe, including in India, faced a significant problem with the platform.
This morning, people who tried to use Twitter found themselves in a bit of a bind. When they opened their app or visited the website, they were greeted with an empty space where their feed of tweets should have been.
Now, it wasn’t a complete blackout. Users could see some notifications, like suggestions on whom to follow, but the main part, the timeline where all the tweets show up, was just not working. Some netizens shared that it was like walking into a library only to find all the bookshelves empty.
Naturally, people were puzzled and concerned. They went to DownDetector – that’s a website that helps figure out if a website is working or not – and reported this issue. DownDetector’s data showed that a large number of people were facing this problem. It wasn’t just in India but all over the world.
Interestingly, while you couldn’t see tweets, you could still tweet. People were tweeting about Twitter being down, but those tweets weren’t visible to others.
Personally, it felt me like shouting in a room where no one can hear you. Also, Twitter Spaces, where you can have live audio conversations, was working just fine. So, people started using that to talk about this very issue.
Now, the good news is that this issue didn’t last all day. After more than an hour, things started getting back to normal. Tweets began to appear on timelines again. It was a relief to many, especially since X (Twitter) has become such an integral part of our daily lives for news, updates, and staying connected.

This isn’t the first time Twitter has had such glitches. There have been a few instances this year where users faced similar problems. But each time, the team behind Twitter works to resolve these issues after a few hours or as quickly as possible.
So, that’s the story of today’s X (Twitter) outage. Everything seems to be back to normal now, but it definitely gave users a moment of pause and a reminder of how reliant we’ve become on these digital platforms for our daily dose of information and interaction.
