Top 5 best T20 leagues in the world

T20 cricket became popular in the early and mid-2000s. The first two countries to host a tournament using the concept were England and South Africa. Many countries have since started their own tournaments in order to increase money and discover young cricketers. In this sense, the top T20 leagues in the world contribute enormously.

However, depending on a variety of conditions, some are more powerful than others. In this post, we’ll use three crucial factors to determine which T20 league is the best in the globe. These factors include domestic player availability and strength, international star availability and strength, and the level of competition amongst franchises in the tournament.

Here are the top five best T20 leagues in the world.

5. Caribbean Premier League

The Caribbean Premier League boasts a strong domestic talent pool, including Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, who are both available throughout the campaign. Given that T20 Cricket is a popular sport in the Islands, their domestic stars are also quite good.

In terms of overseas talents, the CPL has a respectable amount of quality, but it lacks the cutting edge needed to push it to a top-tier T20 league. Mohammad Nabi and Darren Sammy are two excellent international players, but there aren’t many who can match their abilities.

In the last five years, the CPL has been won by three different teams, with the Trinbago Knight Riders winning three of them. As a result, it scores a 7/10, but it might easily fall to a 6/10 in the future.

4. Natwest T20 Blast

Domestic players’ availability and strength varies depending on the schedule. Alex Hales, Reece Topley, David Willey, and Jason Roy are among the regulars for the blast, but none of the Test match regulars appear. England scores a 7/10 because it has strong domestic strength.

The Natwest T20 Blast normally allows only two overseas stars per squad, and these aren’t always of the top calibre. There are a few people who have passed their prime. Dan Christian and Imad Wasim, for example, are still relatively good.

In the last five years, the competition has had four different winners. This indicates that a tournament is dominated by numerous teams, earning it a 9/10.

3. Pakistan Super League

Because all of Pakistan’s stars participate in the PSL, it receives a perfect score. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam, for example, are available for their respective franchises throughout the season. The competition is also open to those who no longer play internationally, such as Shahid Afridi. Domestic talent, on the other hand, isn’t quite as powerful as it could be.

The PSL’s international stars are good players, but they aren’t of the best calibre. Many of the players in the competition are members of their National Team’s fringes or just play in T20 Leagues.

In the last five years of the Pakistan Super League, four different winners have emerged, earning it a 9/10 ranking in this category.

2. Big Bash League

Because the event coincides with the Australian Summer, some of the prominent names are frequently absent for a chunk of the competition. Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon, for example, only play in the second part of the competition. Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis, and Matthew Wade, for example, are all available for the majority of it.

Only two foreign players are permitted, but they are usually of excellent calibre. The Big Bash League features players like Rashid Khan, Chris Morris, and Andre Russell on a regular basis. As the saying goes, quality trumps quantity.

In the last five seasons, there have been four different winners, which is as near to a competitive league as you can get. Furthermore, the majority of the finals are tight, implying that there is genuine competitiveness throughout.

1. Indian Premier League

All domestic players, including those who play for the National Team and those who compete in State and Ranji championships, are eligible for selection in the Indian Premier League. Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli are among the players who will play the full event.

Almost all of the best international players are eligible to participate in the IPL. Because of the league’s strength, international boards have decided not to arrange games during the IPL season. Despite the IPL’s first three games overlapping with a home series against Pakistan, Cricket South Africa has announced that players like Kagiso Rabada and Quinton De Kock would be allowed to participate. The main drawback is that Pakistani players are not permitted to participate.

In the last five years, three different franchises have won the IPL. This indicates that the competition is fairly strong, with a number of teams fielding rosters capable of winning the tournament.
