Once again WhatsApp has come under the scanner for loose security protocols after some of the cyber hackers are continuously trying to get their hands on the privacy of users by using WhatsApp login, passwords of users indiscriminately.
The crimes began so hugely that the social platform itself started to warn about it and also said that users must now be careful about not sharing personal details especially regarding personal login details, passwords, and even email ID. The details may not be specific to WhatsApp as it may be related to Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger.
The users must now be aware that it is easy for them to be duped with such websites and it is better not to trust just any website in such matters. The website that these hackers are using looks exactly like that of the official WhatsApp and hence it is easy for people to trust and give their details.
The Meta-owned firm has shared the warning that more than 39,000 websites have been discovered which are attempting to snoop into the privacy of the details. The case is not just about WhatsApp, it is also about other social media platforms owned by the same group like Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger.
The scame is growing and even the cyber experts are finding it hard to track down the culprits. Addressing the situation, Facebook said in a blog post, “Today, we filed a federal lawsuit in California court to disrupt phishing attacks designed to deceive people into sharing their login credentials.” Another concern that the social media platform expressed was about users randomly clicking on certain attachments and emails or messages that may redirect to other links which could possibly be the websites of the handlers.
