These Indian cities have the cleanest and dirtiest air

These days, a number of Indian cities are seeing a rise in air pollution and a subsequent drop in air quality. The primary pollution sources are vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions. Several people are likely to be thinking of traveling to places featuring cleaner air.

The Central Pollution Control Board has released a list of pollution levels in 241 Indian cities. The data covers the air quality index on October 24 at 4 pm. It is based on an average of the past 24 hours. Read on for the list.

Understanding air quality index and effects of pollution

0-50 – Good

51-100 – Satisfactory

101-200 – Moderate

201-300 – Poor

301-400 – Very Poor

401-500 – Severe

It is not a surprising fact that air pollution can have many negative effects on human health and the environment. In terms of health outcomes, air pollution can lead to respiratory problems, heart diseases, cancer, neurological conditions and complications in pregnancy.

This majorly human activities-induced crisis also contributes to climate change – a significant threat to human health and that of animals. The ozone layer In the atmosphere protects us from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiations, but the air pollutants are destroying it, too.

The air quality index index is nothing but a number used by governments to determine the quality of air in a particular area. If this figure goes up, the air quality in that location is deteriorating. During such times, people are recommended to limit outdoor activities.
