The Unknown Conflicts Between Lal Bahadur Shastri And Mahatma Gandhi

Today, we pay our respects to Lal Bahadur Shastri, a great leader and India’s second Prime Minister, on his birth anniversary. Today, we remember and celebrate his legacy and the principles he stood for.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered him as a symbol of simplicity and dedication to the nation. Shastri’s famous slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” continues to inspire us today.

His commitment to India’s progress and his leadership during challenging times are exemplary. We should always strive to realize his vision for a strong India.

PM Modi paid floral tributes to Shastri at the Vijay Ghat memorial early in the morning. Other leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, also honored the memory of Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat.

Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress national president and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, emphasized Shastri’s simplicity as a source of inspiration for all.

Shastri’s contributions, such as land reforms, the milk and green revolution, and his unwavering service during the 1965 war, have left an indelible mark on India’s history.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, born in Uttar Pradesh in 1904, was a visionary leader who understood the needs and aspirations of the people.

His political philosophy was purely influenced by India’s independence. He served as India’s Prime Minister from 1964 to 1966 and passed away shortly after finalizing the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan.

Today we are also celebrating  Gandhi Jayanti, a day to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. He is famous for his peaceful measures during India’s fight for independence. He gained support as well as criticism for his non-violence methods.

President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to Gandhi and talked about how his teachings promote unity and compassion.

France also paid tribute to Gandhi for his principles of non-violence, peace, and tolerance. Other leaders like Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also honored Gandhi.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge talked about Gandhi’s impact and relevance today. President Droupadi Murmu also paid tribute to Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The Non-Cooperation Movement of 1921, the Dandi March of 1930, and the Quit India Movement of 1942 were pivotal moments where Lal Bahadur Shastri had passionately participated.

However, when Sashtri realized that India’s independence couldn’t be achieved solely through non-violence because the British understood only the language of force, he changed the slogan inspired by Gandhi.

While Gandhi had given the slogan “Karo ya maro” (Do or Die), Lal Bahadur Shastri transformed it into “Maro nahi maaro” (Don’t die but kill) on August 9, 1942, in Allahabad.

The struggle for India’s independence lasted for 90 years. Later, even Veer Savarkar stated that if Gandhi Ji hadn’t adhered to his non-violence ideology, India could have gained independence 35 years earlier.

In addition to being the Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri held various other ministerial positions within the government.

He served as the Railway Minister, Minister of Transport and Communications, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Home Minister before becoming India’s second Prime Minister.
