Copenhagen came ranked second on the Global Liveability Index and was named Europe’s capital of cool by CNN Travel in December 2021.

Geneva came in at number six and Zurich at number three, making Switzerland the only nation in Europe with 2 spots in the top 10.

But Canada emerged as the ultimate victor. Three of the cities in the Great White North were represented: Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto.

According to the index’s creators,

“Cities that were around the top of our rankings before the COVID period have regained their stability, solid services and infrastructure, as well as fun recreational opportunities.”

Syria’s capital Damascus has been deemed the least liveable city according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s The Global Liveability Index 2022.

Algiers, in Algeria, Tripoli, in Libya, and Lagos, in Nigeria are among the least livable cities.

The ten cities with the lowest rankings—seven of which are in the Middle East and Africa—were affected most negatively by wars, conflicts, and terrorism, according to the research.

When deciding which countries would make up the bottom of the list, ongoing international conflict was the most important factor.

The three least livable cities in the world were ranked as being Damascus, Lagos, and Tripoli. Due to the continuing conflict in Ukraine, Kyiv was not evaluated this year.
