Why Did The Film Couldn’t Launch On OTT?

However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Director Sudipto Sen expressed difficulties in finding a suitable OTT partner for the film. Despite its box office success, Sen found that parts of the film industry have been reluctant to embrace the movie, possibly due to its unexpected and overwhelming success. 

It was also because ‘The Kerala Story’ film also exposed some terrorist organizations that forcibly or deceitfully convert people’s religions and involve them in terrorism and other illegal activities.

Highest-Grossing Bollywood Film Of 2023

Comparing ‘The Kerala Story’ to other Bollywood films in 2023, it stands out for its profitability. The film was made on a small budget of ₹15-20 crore, while it earned ₹303 crore, with a 15x profit.

Despite its relatively modest budget, the film outperformed other big hits like ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’, which earned 640.42 crores and 543.22 crores, respectively.

Speaking of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2023, ‘The Kerala Story’ leads the pack, followed by other major successes like ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Jawan’. These films represent the diverse and dynamic nature of Indian cinema, each bringing something unique to the table.
