Asha Parekh, Suriya, Ajay Devgan, Aparna Balaamurali, Satchidanandan KR, Rahul Deshpande, Manoj Muntashir & others have received the top awards.

68th National Film Awards 2020: The Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi hosted the 68th National Film Awards event on Friday to recognize the finest of cinema in 2020. The winners are receiving their honors from President Droupadi Murmu.

At the 68th edition of the ceremony on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Film Awards for the year 2020 in a number of categories.

The public, according to the President, eagerly anticipates watching movies that promote social cohesion, quicken the speed of national growth, and amplify efforts to safeguard the environment.

The report was delivered to I&B minister Anurag Thakur by a group of 10 jury members led by filmmaker Vipul Shah.

Suriya and Ajay Devgn both received the best actor award for their roles in the films Soorarai Pottru and Tanaji, The Unsung Warrior. Soorarai Pottru, a Tamil film, has been declared the best film of the year.

Aparna Balaamurali, the actress, earned the Best Actress award for Soorarai Pottru.

The title for the best Hindi film went to Toolsidas Junior, and the award for the best director went to Satchidanandan KR for the posthumous Malayalam release of AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum.

For the Marathi movie, Rahul Deshpande won for best male playback singer. For the Malayalam film AK, Mi Vasantrao and Nanchamma received the Best female playback singer award. 

The best lyrics for the Hindi film Saina were awarded to Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Manoj Muntashir.

This year, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh received the award for the state with the best film environment. The state of Uttarakhand was picked out for special recognition.

For the background music of the Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, respectively, GV Prakash Kumar and Thaman S won the award for best music direction.
