Telangana Govt To Build 8 New Medical Colleges, After ₹60,000 Metro Expansion

The Telangana Government has given approval for the establishment of eight new medical colleges, one in each district of the state.

This makes Telangana the first state in India to have a medical college in every district. The new medical colleges will add 800 MBBS seats, with each college having an intake capacity of 100 MBBS seats.

Admission to 85% of these seats will be conducted through NEET state counseling. NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, a common medical entrance exam in India.

The state counseling for these seats will be managed by Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences.

The new medical colleges will be set up in different districts, including Rangareddy, Yadadri Bhongir, Medak, Warangal, Mulugu, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Medchal Malkajgiri.

The eight new medical colleges, making it the first state in India to have a medical college in every district. The colleges will add 800 MBBS seats and admission will be conducted through NEET state counseling.

The Telangana Cabinet has also approved a plan for the expansion of the Metro Rail system in Hyderabad, the state capital.

The plan will cost Rs 60,000 crore and will improve transport infrastructure. The Metro Rail expansion will connect various areas in the city to different parts of the country.

The state is confident of receiving assistance from the central government for this project, but if that doesn’t happen, they plan to raise funds on their own. The aim is to make Hyderabad’s transport system one of the best in the country.

The Metro Rail expansion will cover various routes, including Jubilee Bus station to Tumkunta, Patny station to Kandlakoya, Isnapur to Miyapur, LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet, Uppal to Bibi Nagar, Uppal to ECIL crossroads, Shamshabad to Shadnagar via Kothur, and Shamshabad to Kandukur.
