Telangana Assembly Elections: 33 Million Voters, 119 Seats, And Political Clash

Telangana is buzzing with election fever, yes, I’m talking about ‘Telangana assembly elections.’ On Thursday, a whopping 32.6 million people are deciding who’ll take the 119 assembly seats. 

It’s a big political event including political figures like PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, K Chandrashekar Rao, and several others stirring up the campaign trail. The election is highly anticipated among the ruling BRS, BJP, and Congress parties.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana, Vikas Raj, has announced that all necessary arrangements have been made for a smooth and fair polling process in the state. 

A total of 35,655 polling stations have been set up, including model and all-women polling stations. Around 12,000 critical polling stations will have additional security forces deployed. Home-voting arrangements have already seen 27,000 voters cast their votes. 

Transportation will be provided for returning officers, and volunteers will assist disabled voters. Braille posters and ballots will be available for the visually impaired, and posters in sign language for the hearing-impaired.

The results for Telangana, along with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram, are coming out on December 3. These states had their voting sessions from November 7 to 25, and Telangana was the last one to join the campaign.

Now, the voting scene is something else. It kicked off at 7 am, wrapping up by 5 pm in most places, but in 13 areas with Left Wing Extremism, it ends an hour earlier. There are over 250,000 staff members working to make sure everything goes smoothly.

The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is going all in, contesting in all 119 seats. The BJP and Jana Sena are not far behind, battling it out in 111 and 8 seats, respectively. The Congress is also in the mix, fielding candidates in 118 seats and teaming up with the CPI for one.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. There’s a bit of drama at the Janagama polling station, where supporters of different parties clashed. The cops are there, keeping things under control.

By 9 am, 8.52% of the voters had already cast their ballots. And celebs like Venkatesh Daggubati, Srikanth, and Chiranjeevi are turning up, reminding everyone to vote. Keep an eye on December 3 for the results – it’s going to be interesting to see who comes out on top.
