Taliban Sends Off Message To NSA Meeting Without Being In Attendance

Afghanistan -The third regional meeting on Afghanistan has erupted to small bombshell responses by countries who attended and ones who missed to attend the NSA meet that culminated recently.

Taliban Spokesperson, Mr. Zabihullah Mujahid said in a press statement “We firmly believe that this conference is in better interest of Afghanistan as the entire region is considerate of the current Afghan situation and the participating countries also must be thoughtful of improving and safeguarding the security situation in Afghanistan and helping the current government to ensure security in the country on its own.”

Presiding over the meeting was Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Mr. Ajit Doval who interacted with NSAs from seven other nations.

The eight participating nations, India, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan discussed the evolving Afghan situation, with an emphasis that the country should not be used for sheltering, training, planning or financing any terrorist activities. This was the first meeting on Afghanistan issue, conveyed by India after August 15 when the Taliban took control of the country.

Reacting to this situation officials in Afghanistan said “its land will not be used against any country”.  China and Pakistan have however said that they will not be attending the meet. China had cited re-scheduling issues, while Pakistan had referred to India as a spoiler.

Immediately after the withdrawal of US forces, the militant group swiftly captured the country, including the rural districts even in the north of the country, a stronghold for the government. They captured Afghan cities one after another and some days later had a few days later, took control of three-quarters of the country. President Ashraf Ghani had fled and the American government was rushing to get its diplomatic personnel out of Kabul. Two decades of fighting, thousands of lives and billions of dollars had failed to bring lasting democracy to Afghanistan.
