Taapsee Pannu Stars ‘Blurr’ Is A Horror-Thriller Remake Story of Twins

Tapasee Pannu started her own film production company but she has started her journey with a remake film ‘Blurr’. The film portrays a horror-thriller story.

Taapsee Pannu revealed that her production company, Outsiders Films will be supporting Blurr -an adaptation from the Spanish film Julia’s Eyes. It can’t be said what inspired her to start her journey to production by remaking the film. 

After an hour of Blurr, I realized that the reason was more clear — the idea is fascinating. It is marketed as a horror-thriller Blurr’s plot Blurr is centered about Gayatri (Taapsee) and her family. 

She is facing two major challenges in her life — the passing from her younger sister, and her eyesight becoming weaker with each new day.

It was believed at first to be that the actress’ sibling Gautami (played by Taapsee) committed suicide. life as she lost sight, Gayatri smells something fishy and sets off to find the truth. 

The trip is packed with rain (a majority of it) as well as weakening eyesight and a string of deaths.

The concept on paper Blurr appears interesting on paper, in terms of the concept or the twists and even the characteristics of the twins which could be the reasons Taapsee was willing to make the film. 

However, the film becomes blurry when it comes to the actual execution. Co-writer and director Ajay Bahl appeared to be disorientated not just about the style of narration but also with the genre to concentrate on. 

The editing is also inconsistent throughout the film, which leaves you confused regarding the flow of the film as well as a host of unanswered questions. It also felt as if the film was heavily reliant on jump scares in areas that didn’t really require.

Blurr was evidently predisposed to be an action film for the majority of the film. However, Bahl’s attempts to give it the horror element results in the story of Blurr falling out of focus. 

There’s a scene within the second part of the film in which Gautami suffers from a nightmare which is like an upgraded version of the terror scene that was featured in Bipasha Basu as well as Karan Singh Grover’s horror movie Alone. At this point it’s unsure whether the film was turning the horror around to fulfill its potential, but it did not please me.

The inconsistent narration is also affecting Taapsee as well as Gulshan Devaiah’s performance. 

After watching them perform memorable performances before using Thappad and Unpaused as well It is clear that they didn’t have enough space to get their characters outside from the confines of their box.

In the scenes that give her the chance to lay the foundations and perform, she is aces at the process. Particularly in scenes where she is blindfolded, Taapsee makes you want to cheer for her.

It would be better if there would be many more of the twins too. Gulshan offers nothing; however, in the scenes you see him, it’s impossible to be sure of his character throughout the whole thing.

The film’s greatest strength is the cinematography. Sudhir K. Chaudhary who recently was in the camera in Drishyam 2, does an excellent job at conveying the mysterious nature of the wet hill stations. 

For someone who is afraid of dark and dark, s/he may be frightened of darkness by capturing the final scene.

Blurr is a film with the potential to be an excellent film, despite being a remake. However, it is not as good due to its unsteady execution. Blurr is streaming now on Zee5.
