T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets

The first game of the T20 World Cup proved very costly for team India as they lost it against their arch-rivals Pakistan. It was the 13th attempt between the two nations in the world cups, and for the first time, Pakistan managed to beat India. It will indeed be a historic win for the Pakistani players who comfortably won the match and gave a tough time to the Indian team.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat because of the dew factor in the match’s second half. Rohit got out on duck on the second ball of the first over by Shaheen Afridi, which shocked all the Indian fans. Shaheen was the star of the night, as he took three crucial wickets, including K L Rahul on 3 runs and Virat Kohli on just 51 runs.

During the power play, the initial loss of wickets increased pressure on the Indian squad, but India managed to build a good partnership between Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. Moreover, Kohli’s massive six raised the hopes of the Indian fans; he scored 57 off 49 balls. Pant proved his talent by accelerating the game by hitting two consecutive sixes on Hassan’s ball. He scored 39 off 30 deliveries.

However, India soon lost more wickets as the game unfolded. India lost 7 wickets and managed to make 151 in 20 overs.

Pakistan played a professional match as they opened in style with Pakistan skipper Babar Azam’s 68 runs (not out) and Mohammad Rizwan’s 79 runs (not out) made all the difference, as they won the match without losing a wicket.

Pakistan smashed the powerplay as both the players hit all over the park at the Dubai International Stadium. They completely demolished the Indian balling as India struggled to get even one wicket.

When former Indian captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar was asked to describe India’s ten-wicket loss, he stated it was a proper hammering by Pakistan.

Virat Kohli said in the press conference, “We need to admit that Pakistan outplayed us today. “We need to appreciate that Pakistan was very professional with the bat, and they did some quality bowling and stopped us from scoring runs”. “However, this is the start of the game and not the end, and we are not a team that presses the panic button”.
