Suresh Raina meets Kiren Rijiju: Former cricketer Suresh Raina has kept exploring new areas since his retirement earlier this year. Be it through educational platforms or taking a note of the progress of cricket and future prospects of cricket in India.

The recent one being Raina meeting the Union Sports Minister of India Kiren Rijiu to discuss matters concerning sports and termed it a fruitful conversation after meeting the minister. He said that he had a ‘great conversation on sports’ with Rijiu.

He took to social media platforms to inform his fans and sports enthusiasts about his meeting as he posted a picture of himself with Rijiju.

“It was wonderful meeting you @KirenRijiju sir. We had a great conversation on sports, and it was wonderful to know the progress our country in making in all sports. Also loved his cricketing journey too,” Raina tweeted.

Just after announcing his retirement, Raina met Nitishwat Kumar who is principal secretary to Kammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and discussed about setting up training facilities in the Union Territory to create opportunities for young cricketers, especially targeting the areas that are less covered.

While inaugurating the Jammu and Kashmir Police Women’s 2020 Cricket Tournament, the cricketer had said that there is a lot more in the UT than what meets people’s eyes.

The cricketer has missed recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League which was held in the United Arab Emirates  because of his concern for his family. He said what he would do if something were to happen to his family.

“I have a young family back home and I was concerned about the fact that if something happened to me. My family is most important to me and I am really concerned for them during these times. I haven’t seen my kids for more than 20 days, even after coming back, since I am in quarantine.”

He was the second highest run scorer in the IPL and has represented Chennai Super Kings for all 10 seasons.
