Superstar Rajinikanth says ‘please don’t push me to change my mind, my decision is final’

Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth stated his decision on not venturing in politics pointed towards the Hyderabad incident as a God-sent warning against entering into politics and added that he only knows the agony of retrograding on earlier commitments. Adding, that he did not desire to sound chivalrous by announcing he will enter politics despite health conditions, and also he didn’t want to make his fans a victim.

 Rajinikanth had also stated in March 2020, that he would never contest for the Chief Minister post even if he launches his party and would just supervise the political affairs without interfering in its functions.

He had highlighted three ideas – set a number for party posts to check corruption, bringing clean and young people into politics, and he rejected to be on the Chief Minister post. He urged his fans to take his message across the state.

The south superstar had declared in 2017 that he would fight 2021 assembly polls by starting his own political party. But, in Thursday’s interview, seemed reluctant to dive into politics after his recovery from high blood pressure.

“Kindly don’t hurt me by holding a protest with the expectation of convincing me to change my decision, Rajnikanth stated.” 

A day after his fans protested in Chennai requesting him to change his decision, the superstar stated that he was sad to see the demonstration organized by some members of Rajini Makkal Mandram. 

The 70-year-old actor in a statement on social media said his fans organized a protest yesterday asking him to change his decision on quitting politics. “However, I have clearly stated the decision behind my intentions to leave active politics. Kindly don’t hurt me by doing protest trying to persuade me,” he added.
