Sunrisers Hyderabad comeback with a 10 on 10, emerge from the bottom to qualify for playoff’s

Some may call it a shocker while some may shower the team with praises but Sunrisers Hyderabad has registered a marvelous victory against the mighty Mumbai Indians and has qualified for the playoffs.

David Warner led the team was exceptional on the ground not leaving Mumbai Indians to make a comeback and defend a harmless total of 149. In doing so, Warner and co made sure that they did not release even one of their wickets and the team went on to finish with all the 10 wickets intact.

Not to diminish the shine that the SRH batsmen brought on the field, but somehow Mumbai Indians also contributed to their victory by resting two of the best bowlers of the tournament—Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

The four-time champion team made changes in the bowling team which made it easy for David Warner, who scored an unbeaten 85, and Wriddhiman Saha who also shined in this match by scoring a half-century with an unbeaten 58.

Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata were the teams who had 14 points each to their pocket and Kolkata Knight Riders were desperately hoping for Hyderabad’s loss so that they could get a lead of two points. Even the net run rate of the Eion Morgan led side was the lowest which essentially ended their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.

Mumbai on the other hand had nothing to lose as it was the first team to qualify for the playoffs with its first spot on the chart.

“We have a never say die attitude and that is how we approach each game. We had a couple of injuries but they are here in spirit and we are doing it for them. If we can take this performance and momentum into the next game we’ll be really happy. We looked at 2016, we were in the same situation where we had to win every game to win the title. A dropped chance by Rashid Khan and his reaction shows how much it means to him. If we can take this performance and momentum into the next game we’ll be really happy.”

Hyderabad won the toss and asked MI to bat first. The bowling unit was exceptionally tight as they made Rohit Sharma lose his patience and took the first wicket. Sandeep Sharma was on the other end for Quintin de Knock too, who was initially looking good, and bowled him for 25 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was brilliant but could not be consistent and lost the wicket even after a reliable partnership with Ishan Kishan.

It won’t be wrong to say that it was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s day as they excelled in every sphere in the last match.
