Skyroot Aerospace, a startup based in Hyderabad, is set to take a big step in the Indian space industry. They are planning to launch their first rocket, named Vikram-1, into space in early 2024. This rocket can carry up to 300 kg of stuff, like satellites, and place them in a lower orbit around Earth. The entire body of Vikram-1 is crafted from carbon fiber, which is a strong yet lightweight material. It also uses engines that are 3D-printed. The company is using advanced technology to build rockets that are both reliable and affordable. The first flight of Vikram-1 will have some commercial aspects, but the real business will start after a few more test flights in the next one and a half years. Skyroot Aerospace was founded by two former scientists from ISRO, India’s space agency, in 2018. They have already got a lot of money to help them achieve their goals. To be precise, they have raised 526 crore rupees. The company also recently opened a huge new facility for making rockets. This facility is spread over 60,000 square feet and is near the RG International Airport in Hyderabad. Around 300 people can work there.
