Skyroot’s Vikram-1: India’s First Private Rocket Ready For 2024 Launch

Skyroot Aerospace, a startup based in Hyderabad, is set to take a big step in the Indian space industry. They are planning to launch their first rocket, named Vikram-1, into space in early 2024. This rocket can carry up to 300 kg of stuff, like satellites, and place them in a lower orbit around Earth.

The entire body of Vikram-1 is crafted from carbon fiber, which is a strong yet lightweight material. It also uses engines that are 3D-printed. The company is using advanced technology to build rockets that are both reliable and affordable.

The first flight of Vikram-1 will have some commercial aspects, but the real business will start after a few more test flights in the next one and a half years.

Skyroot Aerospace was founded by two former scientists from ISRO, India’s space agency, in 2018. They have already got a lot of money to help them achieve their goals. To be precise, they have raised 526 crore rupees.

The company also recently opened a huge new facility for making rockets. This facility is spread over 60,000 square feet and is near the RG International Airport in Hyderabad. Around 300 people can work there.

Skyroot is playing a big role in this by aiming to provide cheap and reliable rockets. Their efforts could also inspire young people in India to aim for careers in space technology.
