The Tamil romance comedy Prince, starring Sivakarthikeyan, debuted in theaters on Friday, October 21 as a holiday release. 

The audience and critics gave the movie mixed reviews, with half of them praising it as a complete entertainment and the other half complaining that it fell short of their expectations.

After his Telugu comedy-drama Jathi Ratnalu, starring Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi, as well as Rahul Ramakrishna, became a smash hit last year, Anudeep KV shot to stardom. 

The movie, which had a low budget of just Rs 4 crore, went on to become a worldwide hit, grossing Rs 70 crore.

The romantic comedy recounts the humorous drama that occurs when Maria Riaboshapka’s portrayal of a British teacher and Sivakarthikeyan’s character of a teacher fall in love while working at the same school. 

The main character of the movie faces off against the entire town, but in an entertaining series of events, he manages to win them all over.

Prince had a respectable beginning across India, according to the entertainment tracking website Sacnilk.com, with the movie earning Rs 5 crore on its first day. 

According to the survey, the movie had a 29.85% overall theater occupancy rate, with Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu having the highest percentages.

The Karthi-starrer spy thriller Sardar, which also had estimated opening-day profits of Rs 3.7 crore, competed with the Anudeep KV-directed film. 

The PS Mithran-directed movie, which earned higher reviews than Prince, featured the Ponniyin Selvan actor in a dual role.

After the upcoming comedy-drama Don, which was released in May, Prince is Sivakarthikeyan’s 2nd theatrical release this year. 

The movie, which Sibi Chakaravarthi directed for the first time, was a huge hit, grossing allegedly more than Rs 100 crore at international box offices.
