Singer KK, born Krishnakumar Kunnath, passed away on May 31 in Kolkata during a concert due to heart attack. The untimely death has left the nation in shock as an entire generation that grew up listening to his versatile song numbers is left reminiscing the good old days.

The untimely, shocking death

KK was in Kolkata, performing at a concert in college fest on Nazrul Mancha on May 31, 2022 when he started complaining of feeling unwell, really hot. He then went to his hotel, The Grand Hotel in Kolkata where he suffered a massive heart attack. He was then brought to CMRI hospital in Kolkata where unfortunately he was declared brought dead.

The case of unnatural death has been registered at New Market police station in Kolkata where the police await family of the late singer.

Early life and education

Born on August 23, 1968 in New Delhi into a Malayali family, Krishnakumar Kunnath came to be known as KK. A popular and versatile singer, KK did his schooling from Delhi’s Mount St. Mary’s School and obtained his higher education from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.

Family

In 1999, KK married his childhood sweetheart Jyothy Krishna. The singer is survived by his wife, and their two children daughter Tamara Kunnath and son Nakul Krishna Kunnath.

KK is known to be a highly versatile singer in Indian music industry with having recorded Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati songs. His most memorable debut song in Bollywood is Tadap Tadap from movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
