In a shocking move, World Champion PV SIndhu has left the national training camp as she let India for London to train in the English city for a few weeks.
The 25-year old shuttler revealed through her social media profile that she has come to London to work on her nutrition and recovery needs with GSSI while a report in the Times of India says that she has, in fact, left the country to train with the English team for a few weeks after she had a rift with her parents.
The TOI quoted a source revealing that Sindhu will not be coming back anytime soon. The report also stated that she wanted some freedom at this stage of her life and was upset about a few things back at home. Another source said, “She will train with English players for a while. Otherwise, her game will be affected. She has a few friends in England.”\
After the report was published, Sindhu expressed her disapproval on her twitter handle saying that there is ‘no rift with her parents in this regard.’ She also added that she does not have any issues with her coach Pullela Gopichand, national coach for Badminton in India, as well.
She expressed her anger on the report and the reporter as she tweeted, “Mr M. Ratnakar the sports reporter of TOI who is spreading false news should know the facts first before writing them. If he doesn’t stop, I may have to resort to legal proceedings against him.”
On October 19, she posted on her social media with Rebecca Randell, where she wrote that she is in London to improve things ahead of the Asia tour.
On the professional front, Sindhu was to participate in the Denmark open scheduled for earlier this month and before that she pulled out of the Uber cup in September due to ‘personal reasons’. Her father had confirmed her withdrawal from the tournament.
Her father on the other hand said that Sindhu was not happy with training provided in the national camp here. While speaking to the PTI, PV Ramana said, “She has been in London for the last 10 days. We couldn’t stay with her for two months, so she went alone. “Her practice was not happening properly here. After the 2018 Asian Games, Gopi (chief coach Pullela Gopichand) didn’t take interest in her training. He didn’t provide a proper practice partner to train with her.”
