Shashi, Jaismine Shine At IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023

Shashi Chopra defeated Kenya’s player and Jaismine Lamboriya defeated Tanzania’s opponent & entered into the pre-quarterfinals of Boxing Championships.

At the Women’s World Boxing Championships on Friday at the Indira Gandhi Sports Centre, Jaismine Lamboria, the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, and Shashi Chopra both won spectacular matches to move on to the next round.

One of the most gifted young Indian fighters, Jaismine, started her competition with a Referee Attempting to Stop the Contest victory over Nyambega Beatrice Ambros of Tanzania in the 60kg Round of 32 match.

The 21-year-old boxer from Haryana got off to an aggressive start and launched a barrage of blows that put her opponent on the ropes in just twelve seconds, giving her the victory in the first round.

Samadova Mijgona of Tajikistan will be Jaismine’s opponent in the next round.

In the 63kg division, Shashi also displayed a commanding performance as she defeated Kenyan Mwangi Teresiah 5-0.

The Indian, who had an easy victory, was at her most aggressive when she outclassed her opponent with quick jabs and tenacious defense.

She will face Japanese athlete Kito Mai, who took silver in the 2022 Asian Championships, in the Round of 16. In the 70 kg category, Zhou Pan of China defeated Shruti Yadav 0-5.

Wen Lu Yang of China won the 60kg division by a unanimous vote over Alessia Mesiano of Italy, the 2016 world champion.

Oh Yeonji (60 kg), the Asian Games champion from 2018, and Elif Guneri (75 kg), a five-time medalist at the World Championships, had very different results in their respective matches.

Esmeralda Falcon of Mexico was defeated 5-0 by the South Korean, but Baison Manikon of Thailand had to fight hard to win 5-2 against the Turkish fighter. On Saturday, two Indians—Nitu Ghanghas (48 kg) and Manju Bamboriya (66 kg)—will start their campaigns.
