“Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest world star,” says Vir Das while talking to Whitney Cummings

Mumbai -Popular face in the Stand-up world, Vir Das recently interacted with Whitney Cummings, a talk show host, where he called Shah Rukh Khan the biggest star in the world. On a podcast session, the comedian, also an actor, discussed how he used to write jokes for the superstar.

The podcast is called Good For You and Das was invited to talk about his experience of writing and making jokes for a living. To describe how things work in Bollywood and how big of a star Shah Rukh Khan is, he gave an example of Brad Pitt saying that if Pitt come out of his and walks on the streets of Los Angeles, it will still be fine but if Khan does the same in Mumbai, it will lead to a stampede.

The comedian then went on to explain about the huge fanbase that the 56-year-old has. “If he steps on the street for 30 seconds, there’d be a stampede. There’d be 5,000 people on the street. And that’s like Bollywood fame.”

Listening to all of this, Whitney was forced to search about Khan more and she googled him. While she was at it, Das continued that he is the biggest star in the world in terms of pretty much everything, be it the fan base, or the reach or anything. He gave an example saying that each Sunday, there are 10,000 people waiting outside his house to greet or see him.

Shah Rukh is also known as the king of romance. Talking about the same, Vir Das said, “Nobody romances a woman like Shah Rukh romances a woman – it’s something you’ll find people saying.” He even talked about his background and his entry in Bollywood. He said that he showed up in Mumbai with just a suitcase and  became ‘King Of The World’.

For those who do not know, ‘King of the World’ is a phrase from one of Khan’s most popular movies Om Shanti Om.  The comedian also said that it is the journey of this superstar that inspires the fans and hence they relate to him on another level.
