In a joint operation in the Sindhara area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces in India successfully eliminated four terrorists who were sponsored by Pakistan.
The operation involved the Indian Army’s Special Forces, Rashtriya Rifles, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security forces.
The encounter began at around 11:30 pm on Monday, following intelligence inputs, and then resumed at dawn with a heavy exchange of fire.
Drones and other night surveillance equipment were utilized to assist the security forces. The terrorists, who are believed to be foreign nationals, were contained in a small area, and additional forces were deployed to cordon off the area.
During the operation, four AK-47 rifles, two pistols, and other warlike materials were seized from the terrorists. The identity of the terrorists is currently being verified.
In addition to this operation, anti-terror raids are being conducted in several locations in South Kashmir, including Qaimoh Kulgam, Heff Shopian, and Anantnag town.
These raids are part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Sanjay Sharma, a bank ATM guard. Sanjay Sharma was attacked by terrorists earlier, and despite being taken to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed strong condemnation of the terror attack on Sanjay Sharma and assured support to the bereaved family.
The recent encounter is significant as it took place near the site where troops from a Special Forces unit had lost their lives previously.
The successful operation showcases the determination of the security forces in countering terrorism and maintaining peace in the region.
