The Seattle Kraken, a professional ice hockey team, has secured one of their top defensemen, Vince Dunn, by signing him to a new four-year contract worth $29.4 million.

Dunn had an outstanding season, scoring a career-high 14 goals and earning 64 points during the regular season while playing in the team’s top defensive pairing alongside veteran Adam Larsson.

Dunn’s impressive performance was highly anticipated when he was selected by the Kraken during the expansion draft for their inaugural season.

The team recognized his potential and wanted to secure him for the long term, so they negotiated a new contract before heading to an arbitration hearing.

The deal will keep Dunn with the Kraken until the 2026-27 season, making it a significant financial commitment for the team.

In addition to his regular-season success, Dunn was an essential part of the Kraken’s playoff run, where he played more than 23 minutes per game and helped defend against formidable opponents like the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars.

Before joining the Seattle Kraken, Dunn played for the St. Louis Blues and was part of their Stanley Cup-winning team in 2019.

Being a foundational player, he was a prime target for Seattle during the expansion draft, and the team believes he will be crucial for their future success.

Dunn is the third player from the Kraken’s expansion draft group to sign a multi-year deal with the team. Forward Jared McCann and defenseman Will Borgen have also committed to staying with the Kraken for several years, highlighting the team’s efforts to build a strong and competitive roster.
