The ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ is building upon the success of the Aspirational Districts Programme that transformed 112 districts. He expressed his intention to return next year to assess its progress.
PM Modi highlighted how the Aspirational Districts Programme positively impacted over 25 crore people in 112 districts, turning them into “inspirational districts.”
PM Modi stated that in the coming year, at least 100 out of 500 aspirational blocks will become inspirational blocks.
He urged various ministries’ officials to select these blocks and elevate them above national averages across various parameters.
PM Modi expressed confidence in evaluating the programme’s success in 2024 and pledged to reconvene with officials and representatives from around the country next year.
Around two lakh individuals, including local government officials, farmers, and locals, participated virtually in the event, emphasizing grassroots-level issues.
PM Modi emphasized the need for optimal resource utilization, convergence, and public participation for grassroots development. He stressed that governance should focus on efficient resource use and equal distribution.
During the event, PM Modi interacted with representatives from three aspirational districts: Baheri (Uttar Pradesh), Mankote (Jammu and Kashmir), and Resubelpara (Meghalaya).
The Aspirational Blocks Programme aims to improve governance and public service delivery at the block level across 500 blocks in 329 districts nationwide. Each day of ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ from October 3 to October 9 focuses on specific development themes for all aspirational blocks.
The themes include ‘Sampoorna Swasthya,’ ‘Suposhit Pariwaar,’ ‘Swachhta,’ ‘Krishi,’ ‘Shiksha,’ ‘Samridhi Diwas,’ and a concluding celebration on October 9.
