Sanjay Raut slams former cop Sachin Waze allegations as ‘dirty politics’ tactics

On Thursday, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut slammed former assistant police inspector Sachin Waze’s claims made against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh as ‘directly politics’ tactics. Waze, who was suspended and put behind the bars last month, in a letter submitted to the Special NIA Court on Wednesday wrote that Deshmukh asked for Rs 2 crore from him as a bargain to regain his job in Mumbai Police. Waze also accused another state minister, Anil Parab, of pressing him to collect money from contractors.

Anil Parab rejected the corruption allegations imposed by Waze and demanded an investigation in the matter stating that he was ready to face any probe. He said that he hadn’t done anything wrong and added that he would not be resigning. Parab told reporters, “These are false allegations. I swear in the name of Balasaheb and my two daughters and want to tell the people of the state that the allegations are false.”

He called the charges a part of BJP’s political stunt to uproot the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. The Maharashtra government is a collation group of three parties including Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress.

Waze was arrested in relation to the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence and death of businessman Mansukh Hiran in mysterious circumstances.

Reacting to Waze’s claims, Raut said, “Never before has the country seen dirty politics being played out in such a manner, like indulging in character assassination using investigation agencies and IT cells of political parties, and letters from accused locked up in jail.” The Rajya Sabha member said that all these moves where undertaken in order to weaken and destabilize the MVA government but would “not be successful”.

He added, “I know Anil Parab. He is a staunch Shiv Sainik and will never swear wrongly in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray.”
