SAI is going to release ₹6.52 crore as OPA for 2,189 Khelo India Athletes. The athletes will receive OPA of ₹1.20 lakh annually directly to their bank account.
In order to cover Out-of-Pocket Allowances (OPA) for 2,189 Khelo India athletes competing in 21 different sports, including para, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has approved a total of ₹6.52 crore for the months of April and June.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) issued a statement by announcing,
“A financial assistance of ₹6.28 lakhs is allocated for each residential athlete training at the accredited academies as per the annual Khelo India scholarship scheme. That includes an out of pocket allowance of ₹1.20 lakh.”
The athlete receives a direct deposit of the OPA ($1.20 lakh yearly). The remaining sum is used to pay for the athlete’s training, meals, accommodation, and education at the Khelo India Academy, where he or she receives his or her training.
Additionally, it covers the athletes’ travel costs back to their hometowns, food costs while they are at home, and other little expenses.
According to the Khelo India Talent Development (KITD) Scheme, funding has been transferred or deposited.
At the Khelo India Youth Games 2021, athletes from 36 states and union territories had participated in 25 different sports.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is the primary national sports division of India.
