Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal Combine As India Smash 3 World Records In Same Test

Success: India’s cricket team created three new records in Test cricket in the Kanpur test against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal the two openers started the spree by bashing the balls to all corners of the park..

India got to 50 in the third over of the powerplay, or 18 balls, thus eclipsing the record held by England in the year thus far, which had been 4.2 overs (26 balls). This is the quickest team fifty in Test cricket history as far as records have been recorded.

The Indian team didn’t stop there. They then took the record of the fastest team hundred in Test cricket which came in 10.1 overs or 61 balls. This has surpassed their world record of 12.2 overs set in 2023 against West Indies.

India also set up a record for the fastest 150 in Test cricket. They were able to do this in 18.2 overs, which broke the previous record of 21.1 overs they set against West Indies in 2023.

Comparison to ‘Bazball’

The latest approach adopted by England in Test cricket is known as Baseball. Yet India proved they are also capable of playing as aggressively against Bangladesh if the situation calls for it.

Earlier, Bangladesh was all out at 233 after India set them a target in their first innings. Bangladeshi opener Mominul Haque posted a hard-earned 107 not out. Both Indian fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, and spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj got to take wickets. Ravindra Jadeja took 300 wickets in Test cricket.

Records Broken

1. Fastest team fifty: 3 over (18 balls) delivery provided by India to Bangladesh, 2024.

2. Fastest team hundred: 10.1 over (61 balls) by India against Bangladesh in 2024.

3. Fastest team 150: 18. India v Bangladesh 2 overs 2024

The above records are evidence of India’s capacity to play assertive cricket in the Test brand. This highlights knowledge about performing different game situations as well as the capacity to control early game victories by the team.
