Rhythm Sangwan Wins Bronze, Secures 16th Quota For Paris 2024 Olympics

Rhythm Sangwan, a talented 20-year-old shooter from Haryana, has achieved a remarkable feat. She secured a bronze medal in the 25m sports pistol event at the Asia Qualifiers. 

But that’s not all; her outstanding performance also earned India its 16th quota place for the Paris 2024 Olympics. This is a significant achievement as it marks India’s highest-ever number of quota places for the Olympics.

Rhythm’s journey to success began at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, where she was part of the team that won the 25m sports pistol gold alongside Esha Singh and Manu Bhaker. 

In the final of the Asia Qualifiers, she shot an impressive 28 points, securing her third position. This finish was enough to secure an Olympic quota for our country.

China’s Yang Jiin clinched the gold medal, while Korea’s Kim Yeji secured the silver medal. Rhythm’s performance in the Asia Olympic Qualifiers has been outstanding, with this being her third medal in the competition. She also played a crucial role in winning the 10m air pistol mixed team silver with Arjun Singh Cheema.

Rhythm expressed her gratitude to her personal coach, Vineet Kumar, for her success. She was elated about winning the bronze medal and, more importantly, earning the Olympic quota for India. Rhythm’s dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and she has made our nation proud.

When asked which of her three medals meant the most to her, Rhythm humbly acknowledged that all of them hold a special place in her heart. 

However, she emphasized that the bronze medal in the Asia Qualifiers was particularly special because it also secured an Olympic quota for our country.
