After only a day since Renuka was missing, his parents filed a missing complaint but were asked to wait for two days. After the case was registered, the murder was reported on 9 June 2024. According to the source, the victim, Renuka Swamy, has allegedly sent derogatory messages to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s wife, Pavithra Gowda.

Three people confess that they committed the murder and also reveal that they committed this crime on the instruction of the actor Darshan.

In connection with the case, 13 people are arrested by the police. The list of accused includes Nikhil Naik, Raghvendra alias Raghu, K Pawan, Nandish, M Lakshmana, Karthik, Keshavmurthy, M Deepak Kumar, R Nagaraju, actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda.
