Ratan Tata, Justice K T Thomas & Kariya Munda Join As PM CARES Trustees

Tata Sons chairman emeritus Ratan Tata, former SC Judge K T Thomas & former deputy Lok Sabha speaker Kariya Munda have been appointed as PM Cared Trustees.

The newly appointed trustees of the PM CARES Fund, former Supreme Court judge K T Thomas (former deputy speaker Kariya Munda), and Ratan Tata (Tata Sons chairman emeritus), were presented at the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked all these people for “contributing enthusiastically.” The trustees, Amit Shah of the Union Home Ministry and Nirmala Sitharaman of the Union Finance Ministry, also attended the meeting.

Anand Shah, the former CEO of Indicorps and the Piramal Foundation, Sudha Murthy, the co-founder of ‘Teach for India’, and former CAG Rajiv Mehrishi were all chosen to serve on an advisory board. 

Trustees acknowledged the part the fund performed at a critical juncture for the nation. 

The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement in which PM Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the nation’s citizens for their kind donations to the PM CARES Fund.

The inclusion of additional trustees and advisers, according to the PM, will provide the fund’s operations a wider perspective. 

The fund would become more sensitive to varied public needs because of “their considerable knowledge,” he claimed.

The discussions about extending PM CARES’s scope also took place. According to the trustees, this programme has a bigger vision that includes building capacity and successfully responding to emergencies. 

The fund presently assists 4,345 youngsters, based on a report on the numerous efforts carried out using the money.

The PMO (Prime Minister Office) states that the trustees’ duties also include drafting and submitting all files, accounts, and returns as required by applicable legislation and overseeing the contribution process to guarantee correct utilization of the trust property.
