Rashtrapati Bhawan Renames Mughal Gardens As ‘Amrit Udyan’

In order to avoid crediting historical invaders, Rashtrapati Bhavan has changed the name of Mughal Garden to Amrit Udyan, to mark  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Mughal Garden in Rashtrapati Bhavan will now be known as Amrit Udyan. It is being said that the name of Mughal Garden has been changed under Amrit Mahotsav.

It opens to the general public every year. This year it will also open from 31st January. People come here to see the flowers of different species of tulips and roses.

Amrit Udyan located at Rashtrapati Bhavan is a big center of attraction for tourists. Here one can get a glimpse of both British and Mughal gardens.

To make it, Edwin Lutyens first studied the gardens of the country and the world. It took about a year to plant saplings in this garden.

Actually, governments keep changing the names of many places from time to time. In this sequence, the names of many buildings, institutions and roads have been changed.

Aurangzeb Road has been renamed as Abdul Kalam Road, Planning Commission as NITI Aayog, Race Course Road as Lok Kalyan Marg and Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium as Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Every year Amrit Udyan is opened for the common people, which will now open on March 31 and will remain open for two months till March 26. The opening time of the garden will be from 10 am to 4 pm.

It will open on March 28 for farmers, on March 29 for the disabled, and on March 30 for police and army. Tickets will be available for 7500 people from 10 am to 12 noon.
