Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Reveals Hidden Truths

Last updated on July 25th, 2023 at 11:14 am

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is the story of India’s greatest freedom fighter who had inspired legends like Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose & Khudiram Bose.

Randeep Hooda, the director and lead actor of the upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,’ has unveiled the teaser on the 140th birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar, a freedom fighter and Hindutva ideologue.

The teaser portrays Savarkar as “the most wanted Indian by the British” and suggests that many people sought political gain rather than actively participating in the struggle for India’s independence.

‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ is a historical film based on the life of Vinayaka Damodar Savarkar. Randeep Hooda, who has also co-written the film, marks his directorial debut with this project.

The teaser highlights Savarkar’s significant influence as an inspiration for armed revolution and mentions the names of other notable legends like Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Khudiram Bose.

The teaser begins with Randeep’s voice-over, emphasizing that the struggle for independence could have been shorter if people had embraced an armed revolution.

It suggests that only a few actively participated in the freedom struggle, while the rest were motivated by political mileage rather than genuine commitment to independence.

Randeep Hooda expresses his admiration for Savarkar and shares his excitement about portraying his life on screen.

The teaser also questions the impact of Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, suggesting that India could have achieved independence 35 years earlier if Gandhi wasn’t stubborn & favor Brittishers.

Producer Anand Pandit considers ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ a prestigious project, aiming to shed light on Savarkar’s story, which he believes has been overlooked in the country’s historical narrative.

The film’s first look was revealed alongside the teaser, with expectations of captivating the audience and generating further interest.

Randeep Hooda’s dedication to the role is evident, as he underwent a remarkable physical transformation, losing 26 kilograms to portray Savarkar authentically. The film, set to release this year, also stars Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial in supporting roles.

‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ promises to showcase the extraordinary life and impact of one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, who not only inspired armed revolution but also left a lasting impression on subsequent generations of revolutionaries.
