In a recent interview with Ranveer Allahbadia casting director Mukesh Chhabra shed light on the casting choices for Nitesh Tiwari’s highly-anticipated film Ramayana. While he revealed that Ranbir Kapoor will play the character of Lord Ram but he remained had not said a word about the actor who will play the role Lakshman. However, Chhabra did drop some intriguing hints about the role.
According to Chhabra the actor selected for Lakshman is a television star who has garnered a strong fan following. Although he refrained from naming the actor he emphasized that this individual is making his Bollywood debut with this film. Chhabra expressed his contentment with the final choice, noting that the role of Lakshman was the last to be cast after a thorough selection process. He added that the casting decision was influenced by the actor’s suitability for the part, rather than the initial reluctance of some other actors to take on the role.
Chhabra praised Ranbir Kapoor’s commitment to his craft, stating that his focus on acting rather than commercial success makes him an ideal choice for the role of Ram. He also highlighted the actor’s dedication to the film, which includes taking archery lessons in preparation for the role.

Aside from Kapoor as Ram, the film also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.
