Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, a seasoned stock market investor, invested in the airline Akasa Air, and significant information about the business has recently come to light.
The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), which oversees the provision of civil aviation services, has granted Akasa Air an airline license.
The airline informed it that it had received an AOC (Air Operator Certificate) from the DGCA. Company airlines are now able to launch shortly.
By the final week of July, Akasa Air is anticipated to launch its maiden commercial flying service after receiving the DGCA license. It is anticipated that Akasa Air would begin accepting reservations on July 15. Vinay Dubey, the CEO of the Akasa Air airlines company, had already mentioned this in a talk with the media.
After receiving the DGCA airline license, Akasa Air announced this information on its official Twitter account, writing,
“We are glad to announce the receipt of our Air Operator Certificate (AOC). This marks a significant turning point. We may now begin offering commercial flight services.”
According to Akasa Air, the government’s advanced eGCA digital platform was used to carry out the end-to-end AOC process for the first time, marking the beginning of a new age of digitalisation.
The airline claims that it would launch its commercial operations with two aircraft later this month and gradually expand its fleet each month.
The airline will have 18 aircraft at the end of the fiscal year 2022–2023 and will then add 12–14 aircraft every 12 months after that.
This will complete its acquisition of 72 aircraft, which will be deployed over a five-year period, it said.
Akasa is about to enter a market with fierce competition and high costs. The Tata group, the new & original owners of Air India who intend to massively grow it with hundreds of new airplanes, and a revived Jet Airways.
