Rahul Gandhi Slammed By BJP For Making Unsavory Remark About Dalits

Trying to rustle up feathers as the opposition of the saffron Party, Mr. Rahul Gandhi has made some unsavory remarks that could have left the Dalit community rather infuriated. In attendance at the launch of a book on Dalit lives, he said he would have rather killed someone who did his sister wrong, before taking his own life.

While it might have been a statement made with the best of intentions, the past happenings in Gujarat recently have only made it look like he had ‘his foot in his mouth.’ Almost inciting the gathering to resort to violence for atrocities, he made reference to the Una lynching incident in Gujarat.

Apparently, some Dalits had consumed insecticide out of shame due to the incident that happened and taken their own lives. “I asked the survivor why he had not killed the person who assaulted his brother, as he knew the identity of the perpetrator. To this, the person replied that he if kills that man he will be reborn as a Dalit,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul also quoted a line that he attributed to a book written on Savarkar.

“He said that the day he was the happiest was the day his friends and he beat up a Muslim boy,” claimed Rahul. The former Congress president added that he has no interest in seeking power.

The state of Dalit has been bad and cases of lynching are common on the pretext of racial and religious beliefs. Many have tried to take their lives in the hope of the government taking notice of what has been done wrong to them. Responding to this, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that it has become an old habit of Congress and Rahul Gandhi to blame the BJP, PM Modi and RSS for various reasons. The BJP leader said that Rahul Gandhi should look at himself in the mirror and self-introspect after facing a massive defeat in the recently concluded Assembly Elections in the Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
