Putin’s Appreciation message for PM Modi Amidst the Ukraine Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his stance amid Russia-Ukraine crisis. He stated “While talking with PM Modi, each time he raises this matter and expresses his considerations. We are thankful to him for that… Russia is interested to conclude it by peaceful means. It was not us who stopped the negotiations but it was the Ukrainian side.”

Putin recognized PM Modi as a “good friend” and expressed his appreciation for India’s support in pursuing a peaceful settlement towards the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He mentioned that Ukraine had withdrawn from earlier negotiation attempts made by russia and repeated that Russia is ready to participate in the peace negotiations.

Ahead of the 16th BRICS Summit which is set to take place on October 22-23 in Kazan, Putin supported PM Modi’s description of BRICS as “not an anti-Western one but a non-Western one.” He stressed that the organization, which has recently grown from five to ten participants should not to be seen as a “bloc-style organisation.”

Apart from addressing the situation in Ukraine, Putin also highlighted the importance of BRICS as a platform for economic collaboration, pointing out that it accounts for 24% of the global GDP and includes 41% of the world’s population. He mentioned that BRICS is open-minded to new members and that its growth would also be advantageous for countries outside the bloc.

In a world concern, Putin expressed his worries about the intensifying crisis in Gaza and stated that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been invited to take part in BRICS gatherings.
