Congress had compared Bajrang Dal with 2 anti-national organizations PFI & SIMI. The party had also promised in their manifesto to ban it if they win the election.
The Punjab Court has summoned Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress party, in a defamation case worth ₹100 crores filed against him by Hitesh Bhardwaj, the founder of Hindu Suraksha Parishad.
Bhardwaj alleges that Kharge made defamatory remarks against Bajrang Dal during the Karnataka elections.
He claims that the Congress party compared Bajrang Dal, a Hindu patriotic organization, with anti-national groups and promised to impose a ban on it if they were to come to power in Karnataka.
Bhardwaj took the matter to court after discovering that the Congress party’s manifesto included a statement on page 10 equating Bajrang Dal with anti-national organizations. The civil judge, Ramandeep Kaur, has directed Kharge to appear before the court in Sangrur on July 10.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal, based in Chandigarh, also issued a legal notice to Kharge, accusing him of defaming the Bajrang Dal in the Congress party’s manifesto for the Karnataka elections. The VHP demanded compensation of more than ₹100 crore.
In their manifesto, the Congress party expressed their commitment to taking strong action against organizations like Bajrang Dal, accusing them of spreading hatred based on caste and religion.
The VHP’s legal notice argued that by comparing the Bajrang Dal to outlawed terrorist organizations like Popular Front of India (PFI) and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Kharge made defamatory statements.
The allegations of an anti-Hindu mindset against Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge due to his remarks and the party’s manifesto.
The VHP has emphasized that PFI and SIMI are internationally recognized terrorist organizations associated with global terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda and ISIS.
